Dr. Gordon H. Hafner
Dr. Gordon Hafner graduated from the University of North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978. During the summer months of 1976 and 1977, Dr. Hafner studied at the Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography. In 1979, he was awarded a scholarship for German Studies and traveled to the Goethe Institute, in what was then West Germany. In 1983, the George Washington University College of Medicine awarded Dr. Hafner his degree as a Doctor of Medicine.

Dr. Hafner continued his surgical training as Intern, Resident, and Chief Resident in Surgery at the George Washington University Medical Center from 1983 until 1989. In 1987 and 1988, he served as Guest Researcher at the Cardiology Branch of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. From 1989 to 1991, Dr. Hafner served a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York. From 1991 to 1993, he was the Program Director in the Upper Gastrointestinal Malignancy program at the Cancer Institute of the Washington Hospital Center, as well as the Assistant Residency Program Director for their Department of Surgery.

Dr. Hafner currently serves as Assistant Professor of Surgery at both the George Washington University School of Medicine and the Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Hafner has been with Surgical Associates, Chartered since 1993.
